Compress image to 50 KB - for strict upload limits

How to get your photo down to 50 KB while preserving as much quality as possible. Useful for strict forms, small email attachments and legacy portals.

Some portals have very strict size limits. Compressly can aggressively reduce size using a combination of downscaling and quality adjustments. Follow these steps.

How to compress to 50 KB

  1. Open Compressly and choose your image (use JPG if possible).
  2. Enter 50 in Target (KB) and set output to JPG or WebP.
  3. Use quality 0.6 or lower if needed; try reducing target to 45 KB if initial result is slightly above 50 KB.
  4. If target still not reached, reduce pixel dimensions slightly (downscale to 800–1000 px on the longest side).
Tip: Small images lose fine details. Always keep a backup of the original file. If the portal allows, try WebP for smaller size and better visual quality.

FAQ

Q: Will compressing to 50 KB make my photo look bad?
